Rollins said if the Phillies were healthy last year, they would have won the NL East (Rollins being Rollins stirring the pot…not sure I agree with him on that).
[Philly] “I would never find Jimmy Rollins disrespectful,” he said. “I respect him too much. But if we were healthy all year, we might have won 120 games. But we’ll have a chance to find out this year.”
Werth on the Nationals improving this year:
- “I think we’re better on paper, but talk is cheap, and we’re a long way from the finish line,” Werth said. “I feel good about our team. I feel like we’re going to be tough, but we’re not flying under the radar this year. We have a big X on our back. The Phillies do, too.”
Werth on the Phillies:
- “I don’t discount that team the way some people do, that’s for sure,” Werth said. “I know what those guys are capable of, and I know what it means to not have Chase [Utley] and [Ryan] Howard in the lineup for half the season. They’re still one of the best teams in baseball. I’m looking forward to playing them. It’s going to be fun. I hope we’re healthy, and I hope they’re healthy.”
It’s fun to pick on Werth, but he didn’t really saying anything too annoying here. I know him and Utley were boys in Philly and probably still are. The Phillies and Werth have a mutual respect for each other, I’m sure, but it’s a little different with the fan base. I was trying to find a way to spin this into an anti-Werth post. Couldn’t really find it.
