Before 4am this year.
That’s what time they closed the doors. Parents of dancers were among those who were turned away, left and right all morning, and this can’t happen.
The Final Four hours of THON is now a show and this capacity issue continues to grow. Suggestions of switching venues have been thrown around, but this would be a mistake. A huge mistake at that.
The BJC is the perfect venue. It entraps the energy and emotion of THON perfectly, especially for the final four hours. Plus, the only other venue option is really Beaver Stadium, which isn’t really an option in my opinion. Besides the fact that you would have to change the season of THON to the Spring, the size of Beaver Stadium is way too big. Beaver Stadium would not be able to match the personal feel that the BJC encompasses inside the compact arena. The colors, the sound, the energy…all perfect in the Bryce Jordan Center.
Logically, when you have too many people taking advantage of something that is free, you charge money. And that’s the answer. THON should charge admission to get into the BJC on Sunday. The price could be discussed and researched, I guess, but there has to be an admission fee, with ALL proceeds going towards THON, obviously.
Have to sift out the free-loaders, because most people would happily give money to THON to see the final four hours.
Ps. The final four hours should also be televised, LIVE.
Pps. This was a follow up to Bronny’s post, which you can read here.

Agree something needs to be done. But how can you charge people that worked year round as part of an org thats already raised $200,000, aren’t they deserving enough to be in the BJC for the finale already? Maybe charge people who aren’t part of an org?
This is another good idea. I already posted an idea on the other post. Good luck suggesting anything to thon. As a dancer, r and r member, and alumni, I suggest to hold up on the general donation forms, since I received one before my former org even got their thonvelopes. For anyone who doesn’t really understand how thon works, such as my extended family, this is confusing and they assume its you sending it, not thon. I sent in a suggestion to hold off on this in the future, or at least say you donated to these guys, want to do it again? I got belittled and felt like because I disagreed, i hate thon.
