47 Student-Athletes On PSU Football Team Earn 3.0 GPA Or Higher Last Semester

[GoPSUSports] - The Penn State football team produced another outstanding academic performance during the Fall 2012 semester, with nearly 50 squad members earning at least a 3.0 grade-point average, including a record number on the Dean’s List.  Among the 47 Nittany Lions posting a 3.0 GPA or higher, a program record 20 earned Dean’s List recognition by earning a 3.5 GPA or higher this past semester. The previous mark was 19 Dean’s List honorees during the 2008 Fall semester.  The total of 47 high achievers is tied for fourth-highest Fall total in program history with 2005, trailing only 55 honorees (2008), 50 (2004) and 49 (2009).  Redshirt junior guard John Urschel (Williamsville, N.Y.) posted a perfect 4.0 GPA for the seventh consecutive semester last fall. A graduate student, Urschel brought a 4.0 cumulative GPA into the spring semester and is on schedule to earn a master’s degree in math in May. A 2012 first-team All-Big Ten selection, Urschel was a first-team Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-American® last fall.

Have to give a special shout-out for this.  47 guys on the team with above a 3.0, 20 on the Dean’s List (3.5 or higher).  Awesome, awesome, awesome stuff.  Just an unbelievably impressive team all the way around.  Way to go, boys.
