We have spoken to the man who sent this message to us, responding to the letter from the Mauti’s we posted yesterday. He did not want us to publicize his name for various reasons. This letter hit home for us, and we wanted TSP/PSU nation to read it:

I am a Penn State alum. I am also a Viet Nam vet with PTSD. I have the PTSD because of Nam and also because I was molested in basic training by my drill instructor. I didn’t want the army or my buddies to suffer because of what happened to me. For these reasons what happened at Penn State mattered more to me than to most people. It was really important that the team do well this year. Michael is a class act. He is a hero. As I have watched the team and ,in particular, Michael I have shed many a tear. They make me so proud. (I’ve had to stop and wipe the tears from my eyes several times as I’m typing this message.) If you have some way of forwarding this message to the Mauti’s I would really appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Anonymous
