- Ugh, that sucked.
- Music was excellent. Great work by PJ from B 94.5. Stepped his game up.
- The game was closer than score indicated. A couple (4) key plays that didn’t go Penn State’s way changed everything.
- They are as follows (1-4):
- 1—-B.O.B decision to go for it on 4th and 7 from the 20 yard line in the 1st quarter, rather than kick a 37 yard field.
- After PSU committed a 5 yard penalty, to make it 4th and 12 from the 25 yard line, B.O.B still went for it and PSU did not convert.
- I get there’s no trust in Ficken, but the point is, in a 0-0 game, when it’s 4th and 7 from the opponent’s 20 yard-line, you kick a FG 100/100 times. I don’t care if the kicker is Betty White. You attempt it. Worst case, he misses and you go play defense.
- Kick the FG, or get a new kicker.
- 2—-The wacky defensive holding call against PSU on a punt, that gave Ohio State a first down and the ball back in the 2nd quarter, which lead to an OSU TD.
- 3—-The failed fake-punt. Needed to punt there and pin OSU deep. Defense was dominating at that point in the game.
- 4—-After Ohio State took a 14-7 lead on a pick 6 to start the 2nd half, McGloin bounced back and hit Moesby-Felder on a wheel route for a big gain, down to the OSU 4 yard-line.
- Zwinak then carried for 1 yard. Then came a PSU holding penalty, forcing them to settle for a FG (a 27 yard FG, but B.O.B didn’t want to kick a 37 yard FG in first quarter).
- 1st and goal from the 4 in 4th quarter, hand off to Belton. 1 yard gain.
- 2nd and goal from the 3, hand off to Belton. 1 yard gain.
- Two point conversion attempt, hand off to Belton, failed.
- Around mid-field area, hand off to Zwinak.
- Shouldn’t that be opposite?
- Big backs near goal-line (i.e, Zwinak, Zordich), shifty, elusive backs in open field (i.e, Belton), right?
- B.O.B is a great coach and a great guy, but takes too many chances sometimes.
- Up until this game his decisions have payed off, and he has received all the credit. He needs to take some of the blame for this loss. He did not coach well. Still love him, but not a well coached game.
- McGloin didn’t play as bad as you think. He had one costly throw (although he could have had a couple of other throws intercepted), the pick 6 the other way. Other than that, he played a solid game.
- McGloin: 27/45, 327 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT.
- The dude Ryan Shazier, sophomore LB who said they are going to try to show us who Linebacker U is…well the kid had a ball game.
- Shazier: 7 tackles, 2 sacks, a pick 6.
- Braxton Miller could not throw the ball an inch. He was 7-19, for 143 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.
- However, he had 25 carries, for 134 yards, and 2 TDs on the ground.
- Adrian Amos had his best game of the season.
- Crowd only got one real chance to get going, after the blocked punt for a TD. That was fun.
- We wanted to erupt, but never really got the chance.
- Most of the stadium was standing the entire game, not just the student section.
- Never got the wave going either. Kinda disappointed. Not a fan of the wave, typically, but fast wave/slow wave at the White House is sick.
- Both teams had 19 first downs. OSU had 377 yards of offense, PSU had 359.
- Both teams committed 1 turnover.
- Time of possession: 32:07 (OSU) to 27:53 (PSU).
- Game stats are rather even. Couple key plays here and there, that didn’t go PSU’s way, made it look a lot worse than it was (OSU was 8/16 on 3rd downs).
- What I miss?
