[PSU.edu] “WE ARE” sculpture

The class of 2013 would create a sculpture of Penn State’s iconic slogan “We Are.” The sculpture would consist of large, three dimensional letters, which would have the words of the Penn State Alma Mater inscribed across them in the original handwriting of Fred Lewis Pattee. Composed in April 1901 by Pattee, professor of American literature, the Alma Mater’s words embody Penn State pride. The Alma Mater inscription on the sculpture would serve as a visual representation of what it truly means to be a Penn Stater.

The “We Are” sculpture, with the Alma Mater, is the perfect gift for the class of 2013. It symbolizes Penn State bouncing back from the scandal, becoming stronger and closer than ever, and allowing us to realize and appreciate the true meaning of, “We Are Penn State.”
