NFL Picks Presented by Kate Upton: Week 6

Kate Upton is still hot, and we still suck at picking games.

 Week 6.

AirPort’s Picks (@And_Porter)

1-3 last week. 7-12-1 overall. Whatever. The NFL is fixed anyway.

Dallas +4 at Baltimore

4 points is a lot. Either team can win this game. Baltimore’s defense isn’t the same.

New England -4 at Seattle

The Patriots are very, very good at football.

Buffalo +5 at Arizona

Jackson and Spiller both healthy for the first time all season. Arizona ain’t that good. I’ll take the points.

Lock:

Philly -4 vs. Detroit

Yea, I said. I don’t usually do this, but I just did. Birds by two TDs. No turnovers for Vick, breakdown day for DeSean. Eagles win big.

Scott’s (formerly known as Wayne Kretzky which was dumb) Picks (@Skret16)

That’s gotta be the worst head-shot of all-time, right?

TB -4.5 vs KC

I’ve always had an issue with general stats like yards per game or points allowed because they don’t adjust for opponent. FootballOutsiders.com, and other sites I’m sure,  has these stats adjusted not only for opponent but also a multitude of other factors. An example being they rate a 5 yard run on third and 7 a lot less valuable than a 2 yard run on third and 1. Having said all this, their number 1 run defense this year is the Buccaneers. If this holds true and they contain Jamal Charles, I can’t see Brady ‘Sorry guys, I can’t make the game, I need to be an emotionally supportive boyfriend’ Quinn leading the Chiefs to victory. Bucs cover.
Pats -4 vs Sea
I’ve picked them the last few weeks and am not going to stop until they prove me wrong. It’s like blackjack when you’re on a heater, you just can’t leave the table until you lose a hand. Brady > Wilson. Belicheck > Carroll. Pats win big
Indy +3 vs Jets
I’ll really like this if it gets to 3.5 or 4 but I’ll take it at 3 anyway because the Colts are just better than the Jets. I also don’t think the Jets hold much of a home field advantage anymore becuase their fans are surely checked out, waiting for the QB change. Plus, I’ll take the karma of a team playing for a coach with leukemia vs the karma of a team keeping Tebow on the bench any day. Indy wins outright.
Lock
GB +3 vs Houston
This is humongous big game for the Pack. Absolutely huge. For Houston, not so much. They don’t need the win for the standings and they really don’t need the national spotlight to prove that they’re elite because everyone already thinks they are. Also, in a weird way I think the switch from Benson to Alex Green actually helps them because Benson, who did look really good, is a bruiser who draws defenses in whereas Green is a speed guy who will spread things out. Green Bay at its best is really a spread offense, not a typical balanced offense. All things considered, I think this is a close game for the most part but Green Bay pulls away late with explosive plays to win by at least a touchdown.

Ahlby’s Picks (@Mahlbs10)

Bengals -3 vs Browns

The Bengals are a good football team. Benjarvus Green-Ellis will have a big bounce back day and the Bengals D will contain Trent Richardson. Cincy will cover the -3 point line.

Packers +3 vs Texans

The Packers will have a chip on their shoulder after the slow start and bad loss to the Seahawks. The Texans are a VERY good team but I believe the Packers will begin to click and win OUTRIGHT. Regardless, take the Packers with the +3 point line.

Broncos +1.5 vs Chargers

Peyton Manning > Phillip Rivers. Take the +1.5 points.

Lock:

Patriots -4 vs Seahawks

The Seahawks are legit but when the Pats get on a roll, they really get on a roll. They had a big game last week and I expect that to continue. Take the Pats with the -4 point line.

Herbstreet’s Picks (@RyanHerber)

I’ve been doing terrible. Haven’t had a winning record yet. So I’m going to change it up. I’m getting in the heads of these line makers and pulling in at least 3 wins these week.

New York Jets -3 vs. Indianapolis Colts

This line is telling me something. As much as I hate Mark Sanchez I’m taking the Jets here. Marky Mark pull your shit together and get a win.

Denver +1.5 vs. San Diego

This is going to be another pick where I think the line is telling me something. It’s a Denver line. San Diego is a pretty solid team and for this line to be so small with them being at home is a sign. Denver wins outright.

Atlanta -9.5 vs. Oakland

This is a very big line. Atlanta comes in 5-0 looking very strong. Matt Ryan + Dome + Julio Jones and Roddy White= Double-Digit win.

Lock:

Cincinnati -3 vs. Cleveland

Cleveland hasn’t won a game all season and their first W won’t happen at home this week. Their defense is horrendous. Andy Dalton to AJ Green all day. Cincy wins big.

 (Silent) Squeak’s Picks (@Tepel03_TSP)

Giants +6.5 vs San Fran

Eagles -4 vs. Lions

#BIRDSBOWL13

GB +3 at Houston

Lock

NE -4 at Seattle

Bronny’s Picks (@Jawn_Brostein)

Shout out to Lindsay Horne

Week 6 already and I feel like I still having no idea what I’m doing making these picks.  I would just like to point out that I did predict the Jets last week, so I’m not sure if that makes me a douche or a genius.  Probably both.  Anyway, here are my picks for week 6:

Detroit (+4) against the Eagles

The Eagles are already showing a tendency to play down to their opponents.  Can’t put teams away, let teams linger, and then try to put the game in Vick’s hands late in the 4th to go win one.  I think the same thing happens here.  Eagles by a field goal… Detroit covers.  PS – Remember the last time the Birds played against a dynamic top-notch receiver?  (See: Arizona shitting on Philly).

Seattle (+4) against New England

New England has to go across the country, after an  emotional win against Denver to play in one of the toughest atmospheres in football.  That place is going to be going crazier than AirPort after he lands a big guest on TSP Radio.  Not saying that the Pats are going to lose, just saying that they won’t cover.  I like Seattle in this one.

Denver (+1.5) against San Diego

Denver NEEDS a win here.  Peyton really started to turn it on late in the New England game last week… maybe he’s starting to really get an understanding of this offense.  Who knows?  I personally don’t think San Diego is that good.  Denver wins straight up on Monday Night Football.

Lock:

Houston (-3) against Green Bay

The Packers can’t stop anyone’s passing game.  Giving up massive amounts of yards to New Orleans and Indy in consecutive weeks doesn’t bode well for them in going up against the Texans.  Those boys can play.  Game is also in Houston, on Sunday Night Football.  I like the Texans in a blowout here.
