[PennState247Sports] The Nittany Lions will hold walk-on tryouts on Wednesday after practice, and the head coach is hopeful they might be able to add a player or two to the secondary, easily the thinnest unit on the team.
“I would say positionally, maybe there are a couple DBs in the crowd there,” O’Brien said during Tuesday’s news conference in Beaver Stadium. “You know, that’s usually the position right now that we’re looking for because of numbers‑wise.
“Other than that, I just want to try to get out there and see if we can find some good football players,” O’Brien added. “You know, guys that are just hungry to play football that can move around a little bit, maybe catch the ball well. Maybe they’re bigger guys that we think have a future as a lineman.”
Wait, what? Seriously? This is phenomenal. It’s like a real-life movie.
Cancel all your plans! Skip your IM softball game. Re-schedule the time of your exam in the Pollack testing center. Push you’re pregame back a couple hours. Tell her you can’t go to dinner anymore! Cancel everything! You have football tryouts to go to!
I’m so excited and I don’t even go to Penn State anymore. I might just call out of work and go try out just for fun. And I’m like 80% serious too. Like, what the hell else better do you have to do then try out for the Penn State football team? Even if you never played football in your life, who cares? Just go for the hell of it. Something you will remember forever.
Ps. B.O.B can say he is looking for DB’s all he wants, and maybe he is, but you can bet your ass people will be kicking field goals tomorrow.
Pps. I really hope there is some video of this.
Ppps. Whoever is going, send us everything. A written report, pictures, videos, audio clips, anything. We want it. Theschoolphilly@gmail.com.
UPDATE: Wednesday morning:
There was a mandatory meeting for people wanting to try-out a couple weeks ago, where they held registration. You can’t just show up, unfortunately.
