First, an excerpt from a Ravens blog called Baltimore Beat Down:
The Ravens defense did what it has done for the many years that I have watched them. They let an inferior team think they couldd move up and down the field on them only to end up having the ball taken away when they needed it most. They caused interceptions, fumbles and fumble recoveries. Rookie outside linebacker Courtney Upshaw had his best game yet as a Raven and Ray Lewis, Bernard
ollard, Lardarius Webb and Ed Reed did what they do best.
Unfortunately, on the other side of the ball quarterback Joe Flacco and the high flying Ravens passing attack was grounded by a secondary using every cheap shot, illegal trick in the book to keep them from lift off. I’ll give the Eagles credit. they knew what kind of calls the refs would see and what kind they would not. Pass interference calls were mistakenly called illegal contact or not called at all until the Baltimore Ravens scored the game winning touchdown by Jacoby Jones with a man hanging all over him. Yes, he pushed off, but what else are you supposed to do when being held and face-guarded by the defender not even turned to the ball.
Next, Flacco…

And, Flacco…
Vonta Leach:
Jacoby Jones:
Ray Rice (with an Evan Mathis sad face):
*The Rice quote and the Leach quote are the same. The guy who tweeted it, Aaron Wilson, I think originally said it was Rice’s quote, but then changed it to Leach’s quote. Point is, someone said it.
Yes, the refs were awful, but they were awful both ways. With all that being said, boy, were they bad. Had to be one of the worst officiated NFL games I have ever watched.

Quit whining. Yes, I’m an Eagles fan but that’s football. If you can’t understand that then you obviously don’t understand the sport. If the Ravens are really the team that every single sports analyst couldn’t stop praising for their performance in game 1, then they wouldn’t need to complain about the technicalities of pass interference/illegal contact. to earn them the game. If you deserve a win, you go out and get that win. If the game is decided by a 1 point margin, then its obvious that both teams, at some point, had opportunities that they blew, and that’s where you should be focusing your attention. On the flip side, had the Eagles lost, we wouldn’t be complaining about the refs or how “dirty” the other team is…because then we didn’t do what it took when we needed to. Unfortunately for Baltimore though, we did. Thats the difference between being undefeated and stuck at just .500 cockfags.
