Today I had the incredible opportunity of taking pictures for WIP at the press conference (check them out HERE). Anyway, it was an awesome experience, and a historic press conference.
First off, what I noticed was both Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson we’re blown away. They didn’t expect the kind of outpouring and energy from Sixers nation. There had to be a 1,000+ fans there. It was nuts. Both players seemed uncomfortable and nervous when answering questions, to be honest. Bynum definitely seemed very uncomfortable at times, especially when asked about if he learned from the Howard situation.
But they’re human. Any player, person for that matter, would be overwhelmed by that kind of spectacle.
Everything went great. Bynum seems happy, the fans are excited, the media is excited, and the owners are proud.
My biggest question/concern from today’s press conference was why was Andrew Bynum wearing a t-shirt? I know, I know what you’re thinking.
A. “I’m overreacting.”
Maybe a little, fine. But I’m not saying he’s an awful person or he won’t fit in with the fans because he wore a t-shirt. All I’m doing is questioning his decision. It doesn’t concern anyone, even a little? I mean, one of his biggest problems is his character, right?.
My point is simple.
I’ll give our boy Andrew the benefit of the doubt and not even expect him to use the normal logic of being a 24-year-old professional athlete, and simply decide to wear something somewhat professional from the get go. I’ll throw the idea of us expecting him to wear something nice out right away. God forbid we expect that out of a 24-year-old professional athlete, who just became the face of the Sixers, maybe Philadelphia. How dare us. Gone. Fine.
I have another point: He must have known J-Rich was wearing a jacket and button down. He had to have, right? So wouldn’t a logical human being think to himself…”hmm, I’m gonna look like an asshole if I wear a t-shirt next to J-Rich in a sports jacket.”
But not Bynum. Bynum didn’t care one bit. Slipped on out of bed, threw on his Sixers white tee, and stepped up to the microphone in front of 1,000+ fans in one of the teams’ most historic press conference’s ever. Hello, Philadelphia. No suit for you.
B. “Who cares what he wears, as long as he gives us 20 and 15 per night!”
That’s what we said about T.O.
1 star for bro, you’re nuts (We went to the Super Bowl with T.O.)
5 stars for I really hope this dude isn’t a taller Terrell Owens (Ps. It’s for my quarterback!)

Frankly I think that makes me like him more.
