[ESPN] STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Amid calls for the removal of football coach Joe Paterno’s statue from the Penn State campus, some students have started a vigil to protect it from vandals.
Seniors Mike Elliot and Kevin Berkon organized a gathering at the statue after a plane flew over the campus Tuesday with a banner that read: “Take the statue down or we will.”
The students said they would be at the statue again Wednesday night, but weren’t sure how long they would keep the vigil.
Look at how ridiculous you look.
Just stop. Do less.
What’s the point of camping out at the Joe Pa statue? Really, what is the point? So you can get your name in an ESPN article? So you can be on the news? Realistically, what the hell are you going to do if that plane, or something, or someone, did try to attack and take down the statue?
Stop looking for ways to make this horrid situation that our beloved university is going through about you. Stop putting pressure on the university. Stop causing more controversy. Stop giving the media another story to write about. Stop giving reasons for outsiders to criticize us. Do less. Go home.
