[StateCollege] I told the members of the Class of 2012 that they may be the most important class to ever come out of Penn State. So many have come here, but none have ever seen what these graduates have seen since arriving at Penn State.
Without a doubt. The class of 2012, is by far Penn State’s most important class ever. This class, our class, goes out into the workforce facing question after question about the scandal. The Joe Paterno questions and opinions are going to be endless, and the class of 2012 has to set the standard. Stay cool, and let people say what they want.
As for the class of 2012, we have seen it all.
A Rose Bowl. A NIT championship. A NCAA tournament buzzer beater loss. Numerous national championships. The emergence and growth of “The White House” and THON at the BJC. Scandal, tragedy, change in leadership, multiple candlelight vigils, and memorials. Three riots (Ohio State win, Osama, and Joe Pa firing). Numerous Philly/Pitt/NY professional championship celebrations. Two Flyers/Penguins first round playoff series’ in four year, with each team winning once. The peak of partying (#1 party school in the world), the downfall of State Patty’s Day, and the strict enforcement of the IFC. Concerts from Jay-Z, to T.I., to Drake, to Lil Wayne, to Dayglow, to Avicii, and on and on.
We have lived it all. Penn State, the place, taught us more than any specific class. We learned more than we thought was possible. Couldn’t have asked for a better four years to be a Penn Stater.
