[StateCollege.com] Penn State’s Coaches Caravan kicks off Monday with a pair of events in the Philadelphia area. It is the first of 18 stops across seven states, spread out over the next three weeks.
Football coach Bill O’Brien will be joined by scores of other Penn State coaches along the way, touring various alumni hotbeds to meet them, greet them and, yes, solicit Nittany Lion Club memberships and season ticket sales.
B.O.B confirmed at their first stop in Philly that the team will sing the alma mater after home games. A fan also asked what he predicted the 2012 season to be and he answered, “We have 12 one game seasons.” I love this guy already. Starting new traditions, respecting the old. He has a good mix of being open with the public and keeping things that are personal to the team private. He’s getting his face out there and letting people get to know him, which is going to be great for the program and recruiting.
Chambers also announced that the team will play La Salle in the Palestra next year. He’s really trying to get the PSU basketball program out there in the city and this is another step in the right direction. He has already grabbed Brandon Austin (4 star 2013 commit) and D.J. Newbill (transfer from Miss. St) from Philly.
