[Philly] An NHL source on Thursday night said the league would announce later this month that the Flyers will host the New York Rangers in the Winter Classic at Citizens Bank Park on Jan. 2, 2012.
Man, how sick is that? This will probably be one of, if not the, greatest regular season sporting event in the history of Philadelphia sports. Is that too much? It makes sense right?
Ps. The best of this is that the Flyers will get to be featured on HBO’s 24/7 four part series, where we will get to see our favorite team, players, coach, and management behind the scenes. Fuckin’ awesome baby!
Pps. The game will be played on January 2nd for the first time ever, because January 1st falls on a Sunday, and the NHL does not want to compete against the NFL. Wise move.
