Michael Leighton, who helped lead the Flyers to the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals, has been placed on waivers today.
Leighton, who is only 29 years old, missed the first 35 games of the season due to injury, giving rookie goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky a chance to play, and play he did. Bobrovsky has been brilliant, coupled with the equally impressive net-minding of veteran backup goalie and fan favorite Brian Boucher (Booosh), propelled the Flyers into a current tie with Pittsburgh and Detroit for the NHL league lead in points, and ultimately deciding to part ways with 2010 hero, Michael Leighton.
A semi-shocking decision.
