Stop Bitchin’. We’re sorry. It was a slow day today as far as blogging goes, but what a great day it was. Today marked the first college football Saturday of the season, and for us at Penn State, that means business.
730am wake up. All day festivities, and no one does it better than Penn State. It’s total fuckin’ mayhem. Everyone is drunk. It doesn’t matter how old you are, 8 or 80…you’re hammered. It’s indescribable. Every single time I walk into Beaver Stadium I get goosebumps. 110,000 crazies in complete harmony. Girls get lifted in the air after every touchdown, for every point. The fast wave, the slow wave. Singing every song with honor and tradition. It’s Beautiful. It’s something everyone should experience at least once, because it truly is the greatest show in college football.
As for the game itself…Robert Bolden proved to be special. Bolden’s start was the first time a freshman quarterback started the season for Penn State, ever. Bolden quickly silenced all critics and had himself a ball game; 20-29, 239, 2Tds, 1INT (The intended WR fell down on his interception). Bolden’s favorite target was offensive captain, Brett Bracket (8rec, 98yrds, 2TDs).
The stadium was rockin’ as always, and Joe Pa was back on the sidelines. Here at Penn State, it’s Joe Paterno, then God. The man is simply, amazing. He doesn’t do much coaching anymore, but who cares. His voice alone gives me shivers. Penn State went on to route Youngstown State, 44-14, but it wasn’t as easy at it looked. The penguins fought hard, and gave their decent size crowd from Ohio something to cheer about early on. But too much Bolden and company prevailed in the end. It was a dynamic day in State College, PA.
Next up? Just the defending national champs next Saturday Night in Alabama. Bolden’s toughest game of his career could turn out to be his second collegiate start.
Philly Shout Out: My former high school graduate (George Washington, in Philadelphia), Sharrif Floyd, had 1 tackle and assisted on 2 others in his first ever game for the gators in Florida. Yo Shariff, your G-dub boys say good shit, and keep ballin’. We’re following you.
